Diogo Amaro is a portuguese architect, designer and cabinetmaker, whose practice blends experimental design thinking with traditional artisanal woodworking.
After several years in architecture, he spent two years at FRESS in Lisbon, training under master cabinetmakers and specializing in intricate joinery, carving, and marquetry techniques.
In 2022, he participated in the Homofaber event in Venice and undertook an intensive training program with Japanese master carpenter Takami Kawai and Japanese designer Wataru Kumanu at Domaine de Boisbuchet in France.
The following year, he was invited to join the Homofaber Guide, curated by the Michelangelo Foundation, in the rising star category. In 2024 he debuted his first collection CHICAGO during Lisbon Design Week.
In 2025 he presented MATERIA tables —first in Porto at Fernando Santos Gallery, and later in Lisbon at both the Lisbon by Design Fair and Lisbon Design Week.
Based in Porto, he designs and makes bespoke pieces, and takes commissions for custom-made furniture.
